Parent and Adult Leadership Development

Elev8 has several site-based initiatives that build the capacity and confidence of community members to become advocates for themselves, their children and communities.  Programs include:

Power Parent Initiative

  • School-based leadership opportunities for parents within our partner schools to increase their influence and leadership within Baltimore city schools
  • Power Parents receive ongoing coaching and professional development designed to build confidence and leadership skill
  • Each year Power Parents are selected to increase the number of local leaders in schools

Elev8 4 Justice Community Fellowship Program

  • In partnership with Reimagine Youth Justice Coalition, Elev8 offers a paid fellowship opportunity for community members and youth to learn organizing techniques and how to develop a campaign
  • Projects are designed by participants and have included education funding, juvenile justice, neighborhood development, and public safety

Parent University

  • Each year Elev8 hosts our annual Parent University 1-day symposium co-planned/designed with parents
  • This conference style opportunity has included workshops on “extreme couponing’ middle school transition” high school selection” and Self-Care”

Elev8 also works to respond to the changing needs of the communities we serve.  (not sure if we should mention the things we did during COVID)

United Way Family Stability Program 

The goals of the United Way Family Stability Program Prevent Homelessness are to help families stay safely housed, prevent disruptive school mobility, help students stay in their schools and increase family stability / self-sufficiency.

Participants will receive case management from Family Stability Case Manager using best practices using a client-center social work framework.  Based on individual need clients can receive up to $650 in case assistance.

Eligible families must live in 21213 (Clifton/Berea), and meet the following requirements:

  • Have at least one school-aged child
  • Meet the specific geographic requirements of the program (i.e. zip code, school zone, etc.)
  • Be substantially behind on bills related to housing, such as rent, mortgage, or utilities
  • Be willing to participate in case management
  • Demonstrate a desire and potential to achieve self-sufficiency with the help of program services
